We know that applying for housing programs can be a real pain. Arguably, the most painful aspect is providing supporting documentation for review by the program administrator. As hard as it is to gather and submit the documentation, it is also very labor intensive to process and review these documents and arrive to a decision on an applicant’s eligibility for the program. The updated File Cabinet is an attempt by the HouseKeys team to make it easier to submit and review supporting documentation. We appreciate your feedback and patience as we work through this process.
The New Pop Up ScreenS (More to come)
You’ll notice that when you first get to the File Cabinet screen that there is a “pop up” that explains the changes and some of the new features. The pop up screen is something that HouseKeys will start to use going forward to explain how to use the system.
the 5 file Categories + “Others” and “all”
You will see that there are 7 Tabs on the Main Page
The tab labeled “All” is a general area that you can use to get information uploaded without having to think about which category it belongs to. Once it’s uploaded, you can use the “move file” icon that looks like arrows to move the file. The functionality for moving, deleting, and downloading files pops up once you select one (1) or more files using the checkbox.
You click on the question mark (?) icon that explains each of the file categories. If it doesn’t fit in the Application Docs, Income, Assets, Qualification Docs, or Preferences - you can either upload to “All” by default or move it to “Others”.

We are trying to make sure that we get video recorded web sessions on file for users that need assistance. These sessions help us see where there may be roadblocks or areas of the system that are difficult to understand.
